Summer Blankies

I had looked for a perfect summer blanket for a long time. My son needed to be swaddled to sleep, but the weather got so hot that I didn't know what to use. I needed something light to put over my daughter who is so used to blankets for comfort but the lightest baby blankets were still quite heavy. I needed something light and cool... Babies' bodies are still learning to thermo regulate. they need that extra layer that adults can forgo in the warmer weather.

After struggling with this problem for a while I made my first cotton single layer blanket from pink fabric. It was love at the first nap! We brought it along to the park to drape over the stroller covering my sleeping son from the outside world. It was perfect as a sun shade due to the lightness of the fabric and its "breathability". It soon became our favorite blanket for both of my kids even though it was pink. It went everywhere with us during those hot summer months.

Over the past couple years both of my kids loved having this light-weight blanket to sleep with in the heat of summer (it's also been used as a super-hero cape, a privacy shade, and a changing pad.) Now as I look at the faded blanket that is still being used by my two year old, I wonder why I didn't make more of those blankets that were so much loved and well used.
I am glad to announce that summer blankies are now available from Katomco. They are made from all new and very durable 100% cotton. If you are interested in one of these summer blankies plan to visit the Cute as a Button sale on the 17th and 18th of July. The Summer Blankies will be available exclusively at the Cute as a Button sale.
